Boreal Oslo

In the near future Boreal Sjø will operate five electric ferries for the Norwegian Transport Authority. The company has achieved against four competitors. The ferries will be built by the Norwegian company Multi Maritime, which has announced the first delivery for the winter of 2021/22. All five electric ferries are to be put into operation by summer 2022 at the latest.
The ferries, each 35 metres long and eight metres wide, will be able to carry 350 passengers. By comparison, the current ferries have a capacity of 236 passengers.
The background for the many planned electric ferries in Norway is the government's plan to create the first zero-emission zone on the water. Any CO2 emissions in the World Heritage Fjords are to be avoided “as quickly as technically possible, but by 2026 at the latest”. We are proud to be able to make a contribution to this.
